The legendary Pub With No Beer has been officially renamed “The Pub With No Beer Brewery”, following the launch today of a new craft brewing company – Murray’s Craft Brewing Co., which will be headquartered on the property and brew its Murray’s-branded craft beer onsite.

The brewery operation of The Pub With No Beer Brewery opened to the public for the first time on New Year’s Eve, Saturday 31 December. The milestone was marked by a huge all day/all night party. Capping the day’s celebratory activities was a 4 hour performance by Australia’s favourite party band, The Wolverines, who were supported by local band, Gravity.

“We’ve made sure The Pub will never run dry again, and what’s more, the taps will be filled with world-class ales,” said Murray Howe, owner of The Pub With No Beer Brewery, as well as CEO and namesake of the newly-launched Murray’s Crft Brewing Co.

“Patrons will be able to enjoy the ultimate craft beer experience at The Pub With No Beer Brewery. We’re integrating our own 100% Australian owned, full flavoured, full aroma craft beers with food, entertainment, education, brewery interaction and merchandise. It’s a beer-lover’s nirvana.”

In a multi-million dollar investment, the Pub building has been extended to accommodate the new Brewery, believed to be the best showpiece microbrewery in Australia. The brewery equipment has been handcrafted from copper and steel by artisans in Czechoslovakia and the United States, shipped by sea to Sydney, trucked to Taylors Arm by Mid Coast Freight, and installed this week at The Pub With No Beer Brewery.

The Pub bar has been expanded to accommodate 16 glycol-chilled beer fonts, with new chillers frosting some unique beer glassware. The restaurant facilities have been completely refurbished and the food service upgraded to be among the best Pub food experiences on the North Coast.

The Pub With No Beer Brewery was launched with three of Murray Howe’s own, Murray’s-brand beers, together with a host of other leading craft beers from Australia. “You’ll have plenty of reasons to return to The Pub With No Beer Brewery, as we intend to release new Murray’s brand beers each quarter, and celebrate with a major entertainment event each time,” he explained.

The Pub With No Beer Brewery features:

  • a growing range of onsite-brewed Murray’s-brand beers;
  • other leading craft beers from Australia;
  • guided tours of the Brewery
  • beer education and local history displays;
  • a fully revitalized and renovated Brewery restaurant with a creative menu of beer-inspired and beer matched dishes using the best of the North Coast’s locally grown produce; and
  • regular performances by local and big-name bands under the Beer Tent.

For the first time, The Pub With No Beer Brewery will proactively target corporate and private events and tour groups, catering to organisations’ needs by providing tailored event packages including private and corporate beer appreciation classes; specially catered lunches and dinners with Head Brewer, Graeme Mahy; beer and food matching dinner and lunch events; and even private concert performances under the Beer Tent.

The Pub With No Beer is an Australian icon. For just over 100 years The Pub With No Beer has been dispensing Australia’s most valuable liquid asset, beer. Legend has it, however, that it once ran out! Local timbercutter and songwriter, Gordon Parsons, immortalized this story in what became one of Australia’s most famous songs, “The Pub With No Beer”. The song was recorded by Slim Dusty and became the biggest selling single in 1958. It remains one of Australia’s top 50 biggest selling singles of the past 60 years.
