Hops aren’t just for the Easter Bunny this year on the NSW Mid North Coast as beer and music lovers come together for the inaugural ‘Murray’s Brews, Blues and BBQs Festival’, being held at The Pub With No Beer Brewery on Easter Saturday 15 April.
Murray Howe, owner of Murray’s Craft Brewing Co. and The Pub With No Beer Brewery, has been brewing the Festival concept for some time. “Our mission is to educate the beer-loving public about the joys of craft beer, as well as promote pride in supporting Australian beverage and food producers. What’ better way to do this than to facilitate long weekend experience of great craft beer, great food and great music in a superb location?” he asks.
“The Festival is also a fantastic way to experience the superior flavour, aroma and freshness of handcrafted beer. We’ll have over 20 Australian craft beers available for tasting – including our own. Encouragingly, there’s a growing Australian fascination with premium and craft beers. So much so that craft beer is defying the trend towards stagnant sales that is being experienced by mainstream beer producers. So we invite everyone to ‘hop along’ to the first of our annual craft beer festivals and they’ll discover for themselves what all the fuss is about.”
The latest Murray’s beer to be handcrafted at The Pub With No Beer Brewery, an Imperial India Pale Ale (IIPA), will be officially launched at the Festival. It’s promising to be the ‘hoppiest’ commercially-brewed beer in the Southern Hemisphere!
During ‘Murray’s Brews, Blues and BBQ’s Festival’, brews and food will be served against a background of easy listening, complimentary music with a strong blues flavour. The line-up includes leading Australian blues act Bondi Cigars, as well as visiting US act, The Greencards. Local bands will also showcase their talent, and music will run from 3pm until midnight - rain, hail or shine - under The Beer Tent.
For those planning to eat something other than chocolate over Easter, the Brewery’s new chef will tempt tastebuds with creative BBQ food, made with or matched by craft beer. In addition, craft beer will be promoted through some innovative and distinctive food, such as beer brownies.
Learn the art of beer crafting direct from Australia’s experts. Rumours are also brewing about beer sports and beer craft being part of the Festival! And a ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be conducted, with attendees invited to vote for their favourite craft beer and go into the draw to win a special beer prize.
Entertainment will occur on all days across the Easter long weekend (from Good Friday 14th April until Easter Monday 17th April, 2006), with the main Murray’s Brews, Blues and BBQ’s Festival day being held on Easter Saturday, 15th April from 10am til midnight.
All-day Festival passes cost $18 (incl. GST), with attendees receiving a souvenir 200ml Festival beer tasting glass, a single tasting of Murray’s craft beer, as well as a day and night of craft beer fun and musical entertainment. Children under 18 years will be admitted free provided they are accompanied by an adult.
Free camping is available!
