Sunrise at the Pub
Posted on Apr 10, 2007

Australia's number one breakfast television show Channel 7's Sunrise is coming to broadcast from tiny Taylors Arm on Tuesday 17 April.

What’s bringing weather presenter Monique Wright and the Weather Winnebago to a town of just 50 people? The legendary Pub With No Beer - immortalised in the Slim Dusty song - its wacky World Egg Throwing Championships, and that fact that the Pub will never run out of beer again, now that it has its own brewery.

Everyone is invited to come and join Sunrise and star in a rousing rendition of the song written by Gordon Parsons and famously recorded by Slim Dusty (which has just celebrated its 50th Anniversary), throw some eggs or simply enjoy some – with free bacon and egg rolls for all.

The iconic Pub, 21km inland from Macksville, has been attracting record numbers of visitors since Murray Howe bought it in 2004, renovated the bar and restaurant, built a beautiful beer garden – and of course most importantly, built a brewery!

Murray’s Craft Brewing Co. is now headquartered at The Pub With No Beer – where, after just over a year of operation, it is officially brewing some of the best craft beer in Australia.

Most recently, Murray’s Craft Brewing Co. managed to snaffle two medals from two entries at the inaugural Sydney Royal Beer Competition - a Silver for Murray's Nirvana Pale (the highest award issued) and a Bronze for Murray's Sassy Blonde.

Sunrise will be crossing live from Taylors Arm to the rest of Australia six times during the morning’s show from 7am-9am on Tuesday 17 April.  As well as demonstrating the art of how to catch an egg thrown 20 metres over the Pub’s roof, Sunrise will be filming the historic bar and brewery, talking to the colourful locals and discovering how well Murray’s craft beers pair with chef Gavin Shepherd’s pub food.

And we can promise nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer.  Well, until 10am, when the bar officially opens anyhow.
